Winch stopper
I've been looking for a winch stopper for some time and could not bring myself to spending $20-$25 for shipping on a $10 internet item. So I went to Can Tire and bought a bow roller that is used on a boat trailer for $6.49. I cut it in half and installed it.

I know. This is an old thread. You want a CHEAP stopper. Use a hockey puck. Drill the appropriate sized hole in center . Install by sliding down cable/rope to eye when installing line on drum and smile at your innovative, Frugal and effective stopper. My puck stopper cost me a buck and change. Steal one from your neighbors kids. Grab one from Hockey Rink. Cheap is the key here.
